There were no surprises being here — It is all I expected and more.
The atmosphere is very pleasant and it is where I feel safe, secure, and cared for.
I feel like God has placed us here.
Four years ago when I could no longer live in my home, the decision was made to reside at Wesley Village. It is comfortable and homey with a friendly atmosphere. One of its best assets is the people. Our needs are met by a caring staff. They go beyond job descriptions to take care of us. The residents become extended family. We share joys and sorrows, laughter and tears, prayers and concerns.
I’m certain I made the right choice to live at Wesley Village.
I am a resident of Wesley Village Assisted and Independent Retirement Community. In 2015 my husband, Gerald, began having health issues that led him to being diagnosed with dementia. We knew it was time to begin planning for our future and care for him. In 2018 with advice from our doctor, we had a family conference to discuss moving from being independent to an assisted living facility. After praying, we believed in God’s guidance and on September 1, 2018 we moved into our beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment here at Wesley Village.
We felt peace and at home from the first time we met with the director and staff prior to moving here. In all areas of position from housekeeping to the director and office staff there’s a family-like atmosphere. Love abounds for each resident in each level of needed care and is displayed by the care given to each resident. That same attitude is displayed among all employees as well. Being a faith-based non-profit facility made Wesley Village our choice over all other assisted living facilities in our area. The home-like atmosphere, genuine concern for and acceptance of each resident, meals prepared and served in restaurant-style dining, and are absolutely delicious, the activities we can all participate in, the transportation offered when needed and the personal attention given each resident, made choosing Wesley Village for our retirement home very easy. it became our home from the very moment we chose to live here.
When the doctor told us that mom and dad could no longer live independently in their own home, we were scrambling trying to figure out what we needed to do. So many decisions faced us, but as we began to gather information and do a little research, the name of one place kept coming up over and over. That place was Wesley Village. Often the name was followed with the statement, “The food is great there, and the staff does a wonderful job.” We arranged an appointment to tour the facility to get more information. After that initial meeting, we were ready to help mom and dad make the move. I can honestly say that it has been the very best decision we could have made. There was an adjustment period for our parents, but everyone was so welcoming and supportive that they soon began to love their new home, appreciate the kind and compassionate staff, and enjoy the delicious food. Wesley Village is not only a community of senior adults, but now is an extension of our family as well. We will be forever grateful for Wesley Village and all the amazing people who love and care not only for my parents, but for all their senior adult residents. What a blessing!
I moved to Denison in 1995 from Perryton, located in the northern Texas panhandle. I lived with my wife until her passing in 2011. A friend and I went to Parkside Baptist and visited many of our church members who were in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These people would tell us what they did not like about each place.
We had visited Wesley Village many times and very seldom did we ever hear a complaint. The residents of Wesley Village bragged about how good the food was and also that the staff were real nice. We could tell that the residents were satisfied based on how they talked and looked. I lived by myself for about 15 months. I was dis-satisfied when one of the women from Parkside wanted me to come to Wesley Village and visit a church member. While I was there I looked at some rooms and spoke with the staff.
Each of my two sons lived in Dallas and I told them each to come here together. I showed them around at Wesley Village and they both agreed that I should move here. Soon after, I moved to Wesley Village and couldn’t have found a nicer place to live. The staff were all as nice as they could be. The residents are also all very friendly.
I want to live here as long as I can. We have many activities: church on Sunday and Wednesday, Bingo, games. We even have a driver that will take us any place we want to go such as the doctor, dentist, Walmart, etc. I don’t think I could find a better place anywhere.
